Unemployment Rate: Connecticut’s unemployment rate was estimated at 8.1% for June 2012. This is up three-tenths of a percentage
point from May 2012, but eight-tenths of a percentage point lower than June 2011 (8.9%).
The estimate of people unemployed, seasonally adjusted, was higher by 4,200 from May 2012 to 154,600 in June. The June 2012 nationwide unemployment rate was 8.2%, unchanged over the month. Initial UC Claims: June’s average weekly initial unemployment claims for first-time Connecticut filers increased over the month by 481 (+9.9%) to 5,353, and were higher by 274 claims (+5.4%) from June 2011.
