Effective July 1, 2011, the State of Connecticut began to tax the shirts on our backs: In other words, the purchase of clothing and footwear became subject to state sales tax. Nevertheless, the state will hold, at least for this year, a one-week sales and use tax exclusion for clothing and footwear costing less than $300. It will run from Sunday, August 19th thru Saturday, August 25th 2012. Details: Connecticut Department of Revenue Services
