Connecticut: The estimate of people unemployed, seasonally adjusted, was higher by 3,100 from April 2012 to 150,300 in May, and the unemployment rate rose to 7.8%. Nationally: The May 2012 national rate was 8.2%, also rising one-tenth of a percentage point. Connecticut Initial UC Claims: May’s average weekly initial unemployment claims for first-time filers increased slightly over the month by 74 (1.5%) to 4,872, but were down 418 claims from this time last year, or -7.9%.
