Absences from work of employed full-time wage and salary workers in the U.S. averaged 2.9% in 2013.
Absence rates varied from a high of 4.6% in healthcare support occupations to a low of 1.8% in mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction. Government, federal, state, and local, all experienced above-average absenteeism with absences in the federal government highest at 4.1%.
