• U.S. Retail Sales — January 2016

U.S. retail and food services sales for January, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $449.9 billion, an increase of 0.2 percent (±0.5%) from the previous month, and 3.4 percent (±0.7%) above January 2015.

Total sales for the November 2015 through January 2016 period were up 2.5 percent (±0.5%) from the same period.

• U.S. Retail Sales — December 2015

U.S. retail and food services sales for December, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $448.1 billion, a decrease of 0.1 percent (±0.5%) from the previous month, and 2.2 percent (±0.7%) above December 2014. Total sales for the 12 months of 2015 were up 2.1 percent (±0.4%) from 2014.

Total sales for the October 2015 through December 2015 period were up 1.8 percent (±0.5%) from the same period a year ago. The October 2015 to November 2015 percent change was revised from up 0.2 percent (±0.5%)* to up 0.4 percent (±0.2%)

• U.S. Retail and Food Services Sales — November 2015

U.S. retail and food services sales for November, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $448.1 billion, an increase of 0.2 percent (±0.5%) from the previous month, and 1.4 percent (±0.7%) above November 2014.

Total sales for the September 2015 through November 2015 period were up 1.7 percent (±0.5%) from the same period a year ago. The September 2015 to October 2015 percent change was unrevised from +0.1 percent (±0.2%).

Retail trade sales were up 0.2 percent (±0.5%) from October 2015, and up 0.7 percent (±0.7%) above last year. Nonstore retailers were up 7.3 percent (±1.2%) from November 2014 and food services and drinking places were up 6.5 percent (±3.7%) from last year.

• U.S. Retail Sales — October 2015

U.S. retail and food services sales for October, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $447.3 billion, an increase of 0.1 percent (±0.5%) from the previous month, and 1.7 percent (±0.7%) above October 2014.

Total sales for the August 2015 through October 2015 period were up 2.0 percent (±0.5%) from the same period a year ago. The August 2015 to September 2015 percent change was revised from +0.1 percent (±0.5%)* to virtually unchanged (±0.2%).

Retail trade sales were virtually unchanged (±0.5%) from September 2015, and up 1.2 percent (±0.7%) above last year. Nonstore retailers were up 7.1 percent from October 2014 (±1.4%) and motor vehicle and parts dealers were up 6.2 percent (±2.8%) from last year.

Total sales for the July 2015 through September 2015 period were up 2.3 percent (±0.5%) from the same period a year ago. The July 2015 to August 2015 percent change was revised from +0.2 percent (±0.5%) to virtually unchanged…. (±0.2%)*

U.S. retail and food services sales for August, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $447.7 billion, an increase of 0.2 percent (±0.5%) from the previous month, and 2.2 percent (±0.7%) above August 2014. Total sales for the June 2015 through August 2015 period were up 2.2 percent (±0.5%) from the same period a year ago.

Retail trade sales were up 0.1 percent (±0.5%) from July 2015, and 1.4 percent (±0.7%) above last year. Food services and drinking places were up 8.2 percent (±3.3%) from August 2014 and nonstore retailers were up 6.9 percent (±1.4%) from last year.

• U.S. Monthly Sales for Retail and Food Services — July 2015

U.S. retail and food services sales for July, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $446.5 billion, an increase of 0.6 percent (±0.5%) from the previous month, and up 2.4 percent (±0.7%) above July 2014.

Total sales for the May 2015 through July 2015 period were up 2.3 percent (±0.7%) from the same period a year ago.

Retail trade sales were up 0.6 percent (±0.5%) from June 2015, and up 1.6 percent (±0.7%) above last year. Food services and drinking places were up 9.0 percent (±3.3%) from July 2014 and motor vehicle and parts dealers were up 6.9 percent (±2.8%) from last year.
