There were 3.5 million total separations in September, little changed from August. Total turnover was 3.5% up from 3.2% in the same month a year ago. In September, 2.57 million resignations yielded a quits rate of 1.9%, up from 1.6% last year. U.S. employers laid off or fired 1.85 million workers, up a bit from August’s figure.
