Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 204,000 in October, and the unemployment rate was little changed at 7.3 percent.
Employment increased in leisure and hospitality, retail trade, professional and technical services, manufacturing, and health care. Note: The alternative unemployment rate is the official unemployment rate plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian labor force.
