In the week ending June 22, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 346,000, a decrease of 9,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 355,000 and down 9.2% from the same week a year ago. The 4-week moving average was 345,750, a decrease of 2,750 from the previous week's revised average of 348,500. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 2.3 percent for the week ending June 15, unchanged from the prior week's unrevised rate. The highest insured unemployment rates in the week ending June 15 were in Puerto Rico (4.6), Alaska (4.2), New Mexico (3.2), California (3.1), Connecticut (3.0), New Jersey (3.0), Pennsylvania (2.9), Nevada (2.8), Virgin Islands (2.8), Illinois (2.6), and Oregon (2.6). The largest increases in initial claims for the week ending June 15 were in California (+15,341), Pennsylvania (+4,882), Florida (+4,850), Michigan (+1,114), and Maryland (+1,065), while the largest decreases were in Illinois (-3,401), New York (-2,090), Georgia (-1,893), Missouri (-1,591), and Tennessee (-1,542).)
