The 4-week moving average was 297,000, a decrease of 7,750 from the previous week's unrevised average of 304,750.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.8 percent for the week ending March 14, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending March 14 was 2,416,000, a decrease of 6,000 from the previous week's revised level.

The highest insured unemployment rates in the week ending March 7 were in Alaska (4.1), New Jersey (3.6), Connecticut (3.4), Rhode Island (3.3), Pennsylvania (3.2), Massachusetts (3.1), West Virginia (3.1), Montana (3.0), Illinois (2.9), and Puerto Rico (2.9).

The largest increases in initial claims for the week ending March 14 were in Tennessee (+2,976), California (+1,020), Michigan (+457), Mississippi (+355), and Arkansas (+315), while the largest decreases were in Pennsylvania (-2,265), New York (-2,201), Georgia (-1,969), Illinois (-1,961), and Texas (-1,773).

The 4-week moving average was 283,250, a decrease of 6,500 from the previous week's unrevised average of 289,750.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.8 percent for the week ending February 7, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending February 7 was 2,425,000, an increase of 58,000 from the previous week's revised level.

The highest insured unemployment rates in the week ending January 31 were in Alaska (4.5), New Jersey (3.7), Connecticut (3.5), Massachusetts (3.3), Pennsylvania (3.3), Rhode Island (3.3), Montana (3.2), Puerto Rico (3.1), Illinois (2.9), West Virginia (2.9), and Wisconsin (2.9).

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.8 percent for the week ending January 31, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending January 31 was 2,354,000, a decrease of 51,000 from the previous week's revised level.

The 4-week moving average was 292,750, a decrease of 6,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 750 from 298,500 to 299,250.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.8 percent for the week ending January 24, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending January 24 was 2,400,000, an increase of 6,000 from the previous week's revised level.

The highest insured unemployment rates in the week ending January 17 were in Alaska (4.7), New Jersey (3.6), Connecticut (3.4), Pennsylvania (3.4), Montana (3.3), Puerto Rico (3.3), Massachusetts (3.2), Illinois (3.1), Rhode Island (3.1), West Virginia (2.9), and Wisconsin (2.9).

This is the lowest level for initial claims since April 15, 2000 when it was 259,000. The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 307,000 to 308,000.

The 4-week moving average was 298,500, a decrease of 8,250 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 306,500 to 306,750.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.8 percent for the week ending January 17, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending January 17 was 2,385,000, a decrease of 71,000 from the previous week's revised level.

In the week ending October 4, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 287,000, a decrease of 1,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 287,000 to 288,000.

The 4-week moving average was 287,750, a decrease of 7,250 from the previous week's revised average. This is the lowest level for this average since February 4, 2006 when it was 286,500. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 294,750 to 295,000.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.8 percent for the week ending September 27, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending September 27 was 2,381,000, a decrease of 21,000 from the previous week's revised level.

The highest insured unemployment rates in the week ending September 20 were in Puerto Rico (3.5), Alaska (2.9), New Jersey (2.7), Virgin Islands (2.7), California (2.4), Connecticut (2.4), Nevada (2.3), Pennsylvania (2.2), Massachusetts (2.0), Illinois (1.9), Maryland (1.9), and Rhode Island (1.9).

The largest increases in initial claims for the week ending September 27 were in New Jersey (+615), Indiana (+482), Washington (+345), Idaho (+340), and Georgia (+148), while the largest decreases were in California (-7,715), Michigan (-2,082), New York (-719), Texas (-635), and Florida (-517).

In the week ending September 13, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 280,000, a decrease of 36,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 315,000 to 316,000.

The 4-week moving average was 299,500, a decrease of 4,750 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 304,000 to 304,250. There were no special factors impacting this week's initial claims.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.8 percent for the week ending September 6, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending September 6 was 2,429,000, a decrease of 63,000 from the previous week's revised level.

The 4-week moving average was 304,000, an increase of 750 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 500 from 302,750 to 303,250.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.9 percent for the week ending August 30, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending August 30 was 2,487,000, an increase of 9,000 from the previous week's revised level.

The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending August 23 was 2,464,000, a decrease of 64,000 from the previous week's revised level.

The highest insured unemployment rates in the week ending August 16 were in Puerto Rico (4.0), New Jersey (3.3), Alaska (3.1), Connecticut (3.1), Pennsylvania (2.8), California (2.7), Rhode Island (2.7), Massachusetts (2.5), and Nevada (2.5).
