Regional and state unemployment rates were generally little changed in February. Twenty-nine states had unemployment rate decreases from January, 10 states had increases, and 11 states and the District of Columbia had no change. Forty-nine states and the District of Columbia had unemployment rate decreases from a year earlier and one state had no change. In 2013, annual average unemployment rates declined in 43 states and the District of Columbia, rose in 2 states, and were unchanged in 5 states. Employment-population ratios decreased in 28 states, increased in 17 states and the District of Columbia, and were unchanged in 5 states. The U.S. jobless rate declined by 0.7 percentage point from the prior year to 7.4 percent, and the national employment-population ratio was unchanged at 58.6 percent. UNEMPLOYMENT Regional and state unemployment rates were generally lower in November. Forty-five states and the District of Columbia had unemployment rate decreases from October and five states had no change. Forty-two states had unemployment rate decreases from a year earlier, seven states and the District of Columbia had increases, and one state had no change. EMPLOYMENT 14 states had statistically significant over-the-month changes in employment, all of which were increases. The largest statistically significant job gains occurred in California (+44,300), Texas (+28,700), and Indiana (+25,200). Over the year, 33 states had statistically significant changes in employment, all of which were positive. The largest over-the-year job increase occurred in Texas (+274,200), followed by California (+226,200) and Florida (+183,100). See the complete report at this link: USDOL-BLS
